jump smokers

“Club Rockers. Chart Toppers. Floor Fillers. Remix Masters. Beat Blasters. Whisper Droppers. Radio Rulers. All terms that describe one of the leading forces in crossover dance music, Jump Smokers.

The Chicago based crew have created dance club anthems that have led industry insiders to nickname them “Kings of the Dancefloor”, serving as a natural theme and title for their debut Ultra Records release. Official JS remixes include the likes of Pitbull, P!nk, Britney Spears, Usher, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Jessie J., Selena Gomez and Mariah Carey’s “Obsessed” (included on the worldwide album release). Furthermore, Jump Smokers were commissioned to remix 12 tracks from Mariah’s “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” for her remix album series.

Jump Smokers production & record breaking remixes have brought energy and non-stop heat to dance music fans all around the world. Original club bangers including “Spring Break” featuring Pitbull, “Drunk Girls” featuring Jermaine Dupri, “Digital Biebs”, “My Flow So Tight” and “Now You See It” have allowed both the pop and EDM worlds to finally discover that Jump Smokers sound…and it’s just getting started!”

Original English version:

Beat-Town: We are very happy to have you featured on our site. You are touring this season together with Pitbull and Enrique Iglesias. How do you feel about collaborating with those superstars?

Jump Smockers: Thanks for having us on the site! Being on tour w/ two huge superstars like Pitbull & Enrique Iglesias has honestly been the best experience of our lives! I mean, we could have never dreamed of playing arenas as legendary as Madison Square Garden (New York), Staples Center (Los Angeles) & All State Arena in our hometown of Chicago…but thanks to Pit & EI, we have!

BT: Couple weeks ago you presented your new track entitled “Photobomb” featuring Baby Bash. Personally, I really liked this song and it seems that the people love it too. Do you have any other collaborations coming in the next months?

JS: Thanks for the “Photobomb” love! Yeah, we’re really feelin’ that track…and for those that haven’t heard it yet, it’s on iTunes! (hint hint lol) We’re actually busy in the studio right now working on tracks for Pitbull & Enrique Iglesias…let’s just say this tour has been amazing for us in more than one way!

BT: In the last years we have seen you recording remixes of other artists’ songs and very often you are focusing on R&B tracks like “Timber” by Pitbull and “Shower” by Becky G. What other remixes are you preparing these days in the studio?

JS: Honestly, we just remix whatever songs we’re hired for! lol We’ve done over 150 remixes in the past few years, everybody from Rihanna to Usher to Britney Spears to even Celine Dion & Rod Stewart! Our most recent remix (not to mention one of our favorites) is Pitbull’s “Fireball” – you can hear it over at www.soundcloud.com/jumpsmokers!

BT: Last summer, you released your EPs called “The Voice and The Beats EP”. Looking at those projects now, do you feel happy with your final output? Did everything work out like you imagined before their initial release? Are you planning on releasing similar projects in the near future?

JS: We’re actually very proud of that EP w/ Paula DeAnda! She’s an AMAZING vocalist & our beats are definitely on point on every track. From “Strangers” to “Horns Blow (Shimmy Shimmy)”, we honestly feel that EP is some of our best work! If you haven’t heard it yet, grab in on iTunes!

BT. It’s been 4 years from the release of your first and only full length LP. How come you preferred proceeding with different EPs instead of another LP?

JS: Let’s just say we had some label drama the past few years which is why there is only one full length Jump Smokers LP. We’re currently independent so that’s why we keep dropping EPs, we’ll save our next full length LP for our next record label!

BT: You are very open when it comes to collaborating with different artists’ from different music genres. After so many years in the business, how would you describe your sound?

JS: That’s a tough question. We used to say Electro-Pop but we can be also described as Dance…Pop…or basically whatever else you want us to be! We’ve also done a few Trap records so when it comes to production & remixes…we’re extremely versatile!

BT: You have worked together with big names in the music industry, like for example Akon or Nick Cannon. Are there any artists you would love to work with, but you did not have the chance until now?

JS: We know it’s not physically possible to be in the studio to work with Michael Jackson, but it be an absolute dream come true if we were able to work with one of his older acapellas for an original production or even just a remix. He’s the best that ever did it & was a huge influence on us individually!.

BT: Is it “easier” for you to work on your own original projects or on remixes for songs made by other artists’?

JS: I guess it depends on the song. Sometimes when we remix songs where the original tempo is slower, it’s harder for us to make sound good. That being said, even on remixes…we really are producing original tracks under these acapellas. Let’s just say we LOVE doing both!

BT: I want to thank you again for giving us the chance to chat with you. Do you have any final words for your fans in Greece?

JS: Thank you SO much for supporting that Jump Smokers sound! Just know that every single track / remix we make, it’s to make y’all proud! Hope to get out to Greece sometime soon & when / if we do…we better see ALL of you there 🙂

BT: Can you tell us something about your upcoming releases? Any interesting collaborations you would like to reveal at this point?

JS: At the beginning of August, we have an upcoming release on Pinkstar, EDX’s label, which we feel very good about. The track is called ‘Zero,’ and it has a harder touch to it. It’s clubbier, nothing like ‘Tonight’ or ‘World of Dreams.’ We think it can do some serious damage in the clubs!

BT: Thank you again for doing this interview with us. I wish you all the best and I hope we will get the chance to watch you perform someday in Greece! Do you want to add any final words for our readers and the Greek EDM community in general?

JS: Once again, thank you for having us! We really look forward to coming to Greece to play soon. We would especially like to visit Thessaloniki and Athens, not to mention Mykonos, which we hear is really crazy!
