Album Review: Groove Armada - Black Light
The «Black Light» clarifies the authority's intentions: Electronic music tends to occasionally loose, with the characteristic style of Groove Armada. The style of "looking" in different tones, staying always in the line of dance / house. There are curious experiments, as in «Love Box» of 2002, which minimizes the possibility of detuning. The «Look Me In The Eye Sister» is perhaps the only one that has strong elements of rock, and as opener works very well. The sequel has a strong 80s feeling with «Just For Tonight» be the first real highlight. Very nice vocals of Jess Larrabee on this tune and where you say up and down pretty much relaxed pace, you first wake up in the «Not Forgotten». Pretty catchy production is butter on the bread of Nick Littlemore (a member of Empire Of The Sun and Pnau). Generally very positive that the duo from England keeps the music accessible to anyone and let a search is a more experimental music.
The only thing I could complain that the disk is that in the 15-minute singles, not something that occurs to revolutionize really a piece that you will be shaken continuously. Missing a timeless creation, but at the same time I did not come across a tune that would not be able to listen to the end. It seems clear that in these 52 minutes threw the entire burden on to record an album that makes the listener to pass the time pleasantly and with interest. Do not have a lot of empty spots, nor obscure any part of the rest. The correct placement of cooperation, culminating in that of Neil Young in the epilogue of the album, «History», shows that the plan they had in mind the Groove Armada bore fruit.
It could not expect something different from a group that counts 14 years in the music industry. Certainly chose the most "painless" way for the productions, although I tried to do something different. Ultimately left to the sound that had made them known and appeared unwilling to risk greatly. But this is not necessarily bad, since their outcome and justifies the above. Many times it is wise to you live you know the way around and produce a disc that will greatly enjoy the fans and your people that love one hours of good electronic music.
